Each one of us is born with some expertise. Some people successfully discover their expertise and turn it into profit; however, most people fail to notice their expertise all their lives. Personal Branding is the process of positioning your expertise and marketing yourself, but the most complex issue during this process is discovering your expertise.

Remember that you will get paid for what you do well, only when you know what you expertise in. You need to first figure out your expertise. But the question is how to do that. Each paid expert starts from here only, you will only be paid for what you are passionate about. Only when you are passionate about something, you enjoy doing that and you give your best. Remember it won’t ever come from copying others. It is a hidden talent which lies within, and you need to find it out.

The answers to these question will depend on:

  • One subject or field that you have amassed a vast amount of knowledge in.
  • One skill that you have learnt proficiently or you can easily write about or teach others to do?

The moment you know what you are good at, you will know your expertise. As, your expertise should be knowledge or skill that you have learnt over a period of time. Moreover, it is something that you enjoy doing.

Monetizing your expertise simply means to price tag or place a value on your expertise. However, monetizing your expertise is not that easy, you need to follow a process.

Here are the questions that you will need to answer to know the correct value of your expertise:

  • How is your expertise different from others?
  • What is the demand size of your expertise in the market?
  • Who is your target audience or potential client?
  • How is the quality of your expertise better than your rivals?
  • Who are your competitors, and what do they charge for similar services?

Knowing your area of expertise and determining the fee structure for the same is the first step to start earning for your skill or expert knowledge.
